Bassirou Diomaye Faye was elected President of Senegal on March 24, just two weeks after being released from prison. Faye has already appointed popular opposition leader Ousmane Sonko as Prime Minister. Sonko was favoured as a presidential candidate himself, but was disqualified by the outgoing Macky Sall government, and Faye was appointed as his replacement. At 44 years old, he is also the youngest president in the country’s history.

South African singer Tyla has released her debut album to favourable reviews. OkayAfrica has an interview with the rising artist.
