Dafe Oputu is the Digital Media Coordinator for the Elite Africa Project. A PhD candidate at the University of Toronto, Dafe’s research interests centre on democratization, urbanization, and economic development. His dissertation Who Needs City Hall: Strategies of Urban Participation in West Africa, examines democratic participation in West African cities. Before starting at the University of Toronto, Dafe worked as a research and program associate for Yiaga Africa, a Nigerian non-profit organization supporting youth involvement in politics. He also served as a sub editor for The Republic, a journal of African affairs. He holds an MA in International Relations and Economics from Johns Hopkins SAIS and a BA in Political Science and History from McGill University.
