The second Africa Climate Summit (ACS2) will be held in Addis Ababa from September 8-10. Dr. Abay Yimere takes stock of ACS1 and notes that this summit allows African countries to strategize for better and faster climate finance bargaining at other international forums. In the same vein, Dr. Stern Mwakalimi Kita investigates how local elites handle resistance that emerges from climate displacement while Dr. Joram Tarusarira explains how African religious practices can be leveraged in the fight against climate change  

Morocco’s Atlas Lions defeated Madagascar 3-2 to win the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) for the third time.

• In the new comic The Adventures of Lion Man, Zimbabwe’s Yvette Ndlovu is bridging African and African-diaspora storytelling as she reinvents the persona of one the first Black superheroes, Lion Man.
• Amoako Boafo and Issa Diabaté are featured on CNN Africa Voices where they discuss how visual arts and architecture can be new avenues for representing blackness.
• Angola’s second refinery is set to produce fuel by the end of 2025, according to Diamantino Azevedo, Angola’s oil and gas minister.
• Visual artist Felix Shumba uses charcoal, pencils, and oil paints to showcase the dark realities of racial and colonial violence. His artistic work also incorporates traditions of southern African artists.
